About
NLB is a grassroots community supported organization established in 1984 by two homemaker’s who saw the needs of homeless pregnant women. Our first 12-bed shelter was purchased in Long Beach in 1986. In 1992 we purchased a 6-unit apartment building, which we call our “Next Step” toward independent living. We now also operate a 25-bed shelter purchased in 1999.
The mission of NLB has been to provide pregnant women a safe shelter and the ability to deliver healthy babies with dignity, while learning to become contributing members of society breaking free from the welfare cycle. Our shelter and programs serve an economically poor, undeserved, and diverse population of homeless women, infants and children. We serve a diverse religious and cultural population
We are located at 835 E 6th st. Long Beach, CA 90802
We can be reached by phone (562) 590-1538
